The City Law School, City University London is collaborating with RisXceL Global Education to promote the LLM (Master of Laws) in International Business Law programme. The City Law School delivers the LLM programme by distance learning. RisXceL Global Education will offer additionally an independent and self-supported Study Resources Base in London, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Abuja, Accra and Dubai from which students can operate, interact with other students. We will also provide underpinning study skills support at the Resources Base including lectures by our visiting Professors from the UK, local and other international destinations. At the completion of the programme, The City Law School, City University London will be responsible for the issuance of the final award.
The distance learning LLM in International Business Law is designed to provide you with specialist knowledge of key areas of law relevant to international business. The course aims to enhance your professional skills and ability to locate, interpret, analyse and criticise the laws and rules, policies and practices that are essential to the functioning of international business.
The course gives students the freedom to study in their own working environment and at their individual pace. A range of technology-enhanced learning environments are used and students have access to the University’s extensive range of legal databases, including e-journals and e-books. The assessment of the taught modules will be by coursework only (usually 5000 words) and students are offered a range of assessment titles in each subject.
The dissertation is of 10,000 words in length and must be on a topic related to one of the areas covered by the student in the programme. The additional elective relates to Research Study Skills. You will be allocated a Supervisor at The City Law School who possesses expertise in the area chosen.
This course is delivered using The City University London distance learning facility with RisXceL Global Education independent and self-support study strategy. The City Law School accepts candidates for postgraduate study who have very strong academic potential and good English. Applicants should normally hold a first degree in law from a recognised university (Lower second class honours UK-standard or higher). Applicants with UK honours degrees or equivalent in a subject other than law will also be considered.
An appropriate professional qualification and relevant experience may also be acceptable. Applicants not in possession of a law degree are also encouraged to apply and will be considered. Also, those without formal qualifications but who have more than 10 years relevant working experience may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
The fees for the academic year 2014/2015 is £12500.
Students are invited and provided the opportunity as their time and work schedule permit to attend The City Law School’s extensive lecture programme. This is available throughout the year. There are also numerous networking opportunities either via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or face-to-face.
